Hundreds of top employers actively recruit UConn students on campus each year. Start early and get ahead by visiting the Center for Career Readiness and Life Skills for one-on-one career counseling, and mock interview workshops, and career and internship fairs. Once you’ve narrowed down your search, attend job interviews with major employers right on campus.

Experiential Global Learning

UConn offers Education Abroad programs across the globe on which you may study, intern, serve, or research. Advance social justice in a South African township. Conduct experiments in the Costa Rican rainforest. Work at a German technology firm. No matter what you do, you can develop your global citizenship and be the change our world needs.

Office of Undergraduate Research

UConn faculty members are leading hundreds of exciting research projects at any given time. The Office of Undergraduate Research connects undergraduate students at all UConn campuses with opportunities to participate in research or creative projects alongside our distinctive professors.

Center for Access & Postsecondary Success College Program

UConn’s Center for Access and Postsecondary Success (CAPS) College Program jump-starts University life for incoming first-year students who are first-generation to college and from underserved populations. This intensive five-week program prepares admitted students for academic rigor at UConn, supports their transition from high school to college, and sets the foundation for their collegiate success. CAPS services continue throughout a student’s college career and include peer tutoring and mentoring, holistic advising, and unique opportunities such as study abroad. 

Center for Access & Postsecondary Success Research Opportunities

Being a CAPS Research Apprentice is a semester-long introduction to STEM research. Apprentices learn about STEM graduate program career avenues and undergraduate research opportunities. These opportunities include shadowing experience within a relevant STEM discipline, development of quantitative research, writing, and communication skills through a one-credit course, and community building and networking with professors and peers.

The Research Scholar opportunity is an intensive, multi-year, year-round, research and graduate school preparation program for upper-division STEM students actively wanting to pursue research-focused careers, especially in academia. Scholars become academically well-rounded, competitive candidates for graduate study, and are prepared to succeed in earning Doctoral (PhD, EdD) degrees.

Individualized and Interdisciplinary Studies

The Individualized and Interdisciplinary Studies Program (IISP) works with undergraduates who wish to design their own majors or pursue select interdisciplinary minors (including Global Studies, European Studies, and Crime and Justice). Individualized majors are based in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences or College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources, and may draw on courses in other schools and colleges.

Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships

The Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships (ONSF) advises and mentors students and recent alumni who are competing for prestigious, nationally-competitive scholarships and fellowships. ONSF is open to all graduate and undergraduate students at the University, including students at the regional campuses.

University Scholar Program

Available to students from all of the University’s schools and colleges, the University Scholar Program allows students to design and pursue an in-depth research or creative project and to craft an individualized plan of study that supports their intellectual interests during their final three semesters. Graduation as a University Scholar recognizes a student’s extraordinary engagement with self-reflective learning and research or creative endeavors.

Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental Advising

UConn’s Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental Advising Office provides resources and advising to UConn students and alumni interested in pursuing careers in the health professions. Our office specializes in working with our pre-medical and pre-dental populations, but we encourage all students to explore their career options in health fields. 

Pre-Law Advising

UConn is committed to helping students and alumni prepare for law school and legal careers. At the Pre-Law Advising Office, we offer events and workshops to help students get a sense of what it means to be a lawyer. We also help students with the law school application process by reviewing personal statements and resumes, providing information about various schools and programs, and assessing competing offers of admissions.
