Dear UConn Community, 

Artificial intelligence presents extraordinary opportunities, important questions, and significant uncertainty for universities and for society. 

UConn has launched AI for ImpaCT, a university-wide effort to help our community thoughtfully understand, shape, and respond to this rapidly evolving technology. As part of that work, the Provost’s Office has convened an AI Council representing faculty, staff, students, and leaders from across the University. 

I am grateful to have been asked to serve as Special Advisor to the Provost on Artificial Intelligence and to lead this effort. 

I have composed a more detailed message outlining the purpose of AI for ImpaCT, how the AI Council is organized, and some brief notes about what comes next.
